MESOPOTAMIA 2700 BC

INVENTORS OF GLASS

Mesopotamia, later known as Babylon and then Iraq, is the Birthplace of Civilization and Glass. However, a Civil War broke out and split Mesopotamia into Babylon to the South and Assyria to the North and left Mesopotamia unable to keep pace with glass development. They used glass primarily for jewelry. During the war, people left the region by migrating West to Canaan and then down to Egypt, carrying their skills and glass with them. Abraham was one.

EGYPT 1500 BC

LARGE SCALE MANUFACUTURING

Egyptians far surpassed the skills of their ancestors in Mesopotamia, King Tutt's Tomb proves it. Egyptian Glass was made so well that it was traded by the Phoenicians around the Mediterranean. A discovery of a 1300 BC Phoencian ship that sunk off of Turkey, carried 175 Egyptian Glass Ingots. This prooves that Egypt supplied other Glass Manufacturers the Raw Materials from their three glass factories.

Canaan was in the middle of Mesopotamia and Egypt. Eventually it split into Phoenicia and Palestine. Phoenicia created an empire by setting up City-States around the Mediterranean and played a major role in the glass industry. By teaching Glass Distributing the Glass Ingots that Egypt Manufactured and taught Glass Smiths how to fabricate glass by reheating the ingots up. Phoenicians invented Glass Blowing that made it affordable for every household.
